RMIA’s annual celebration of Independence Day. Children ride their decorated bicycles, trikes, and other vehicles (wagons etc.) three blocks, often accompanied by a Chicago Fire Department engine, along a closed-off Manor Avenue, ending at Manor Park, where paraders get paletas to finish the festivities. Meet at Buffalo Park from 3:30pm to 4:00pm, then ride up Manor to Manor Park.
This wonderful summer tradition is organized by volunteers Lisa and Cheryl. Manor kids decorate their bicycles and travel from Buffalo Park to Manor Park escorted by the Chicago Fire Department, sirens screaming. This year the parade is Sunday afternoon.
Sunday, June 25th: 3:45pm – 4:00pm: Children gather with their decorated bikes at Buffalo Park, Sunnyside and Manor. Parade steps off promptly at 4pm.
Volunteers are needed to close traffic at Wilson for the 10-15 minutes it takes to clear the intersection. Volunteers should arrive at Buffalo Park no later than 3:45pm. Thank you.
