Ravenswood Manor is always a busy place on Halloween, and with the holiday falling on a Saturday this year, we expect the neighborhood to be extra lively!
As an organization whose objective is to promote the safety of our community, here are some important reminders to help keep everyone safe.
Trick-or-Treating Times
While trick-or-treaters might be tempted to start early, remember that our neighbors need time to prepare. We are making the unofficial declaration that trick-or-treating in Ravenswood Manor starts at 4:00 pm and go until around 9:00pm (or until candy runs out, which ever comes first).
Traffic Safety
Please take extra precautions if you need to drive through the neighborhood during peak trick-or-treating hours. Families with young children tend to come out during daylight and may be out as early as 4:00 while older children and adults may be out past 10pm. Peak trick-or-treating hours in the past have been between 5:00 – 9:00pm. Avoid parking in areas that limit the flow of traffic, especially along Wilson and Manor.
Street Closures
Several blocks in the neighborhood will be closed to car traffic, including:
- 2840-2858 Wilson (Manor to Francisco)
- 4400 block of Francisco
- 2700 block of Windsor
- 2900 block of Eastwood
Plan accordingly!
Pedestrian Safety
If you are exploring the neighborhood on foot, stick to sidewalks and always cross the street at designated cross-walks. Never walk in the street. Keep a close eye on young children and consider adding visibility aides like lights, glow sticks, or reflective strips to costumes. Designate a meet-up spot in case anyone gets lost, and make sure children know important phone numbers or have them available in writing.
Thank you for your vigilance and generosity as we all work to make Halloween a fun, safe, and welcoming holiday in Ravenswood Manor.
Happy Halloween from the RMIA!
