UPDATE 10/22/21: This event has been postponed due to rain. We hope to reschedule for a date TBD in the spring.
Please join your neighbors at Arthur J. LaPointe Park as we thank the supporters of the park’s most recent renovation. It was three years ago that the RMIA solicited neighbors to form a committee and implement a new path forward for the park. Generous funds through neighbor donations as well as RMIA support made this possible.
This is not Chicago Park District property, so over many decades we have taken on the task of managing and deciding what is best for this open space in our hood. It has become a wonderful gathering space as well as a native plant stopover on a pollinator pathway for birds and insects.
A most welcome addition has been the new benches! We will recognize the families that adopted the benches and sundial to honor their loved ones who were longtime Manor residents.
We will also speak to the history of this MWRD (Metropolitan Water Reclamation District) property as well as the NeighborSpace connection. Tentative plans include a parade of children from Manor Park following a trumpet player (more on this soon).
Refreshments provided by Brü Coffeeworks and Somethin Sweet Donuts.
We hope to see you there!

Also, if you would like to support the ongoing landscaping needs/upgrades for LaPointe Park, donations can still be made at https://www.gofundme.com/f/xhptc-lapointe-park-redesign.
